The kids and I celebrated Spring with a hike to Satan's Kingdom, a portion of the Farmington River, in New Hartford, Connecticut. The visit inspired these paintings.

This is my fourth watercolor rendition of the Gate House on Lake McDonough. I took and used photos from this Spring.

Tulmeadow Farm, in West Simbury, CT, has been around since 1768. They grow vegetables and hay and raise grass fed beef. They sell these things and their own ice cream at the farm store.

Beach Rock is in Barkhamsted, just a few minutes from my home. It overlooks Lake McDonough. This is the view to the West. This may be the first in a Beach Rock series. I have started the next one, which shows Lake McDonough.

Stanclift cove is on Lake McDonough, here in Barkhamsted, CT. We live about a mile away from it and spend many hours there every summer. This is the view from near the Braille Trail at Goose Green Beach. I took the reference photo.

I just finished this commission of a New Hartford, Connecticut home. I'm planning on going back to my underwater series, possibly starting with a Parrot Fish and coral.

The Farmington River Watershed Association is hosting a silent auction and gala on Friday, April 16. Life-size wooden fish will be individually decorated and auctioned off as part of a new outreach program. The folk-art fish will go on display starting in February in the new Pia Sjölin Design Gallery at the Shoppes at Farmington Valley in Canton. Bidders can hook one of their own during the silent auction, which runs from April 1-16, culminating with the gala the evening of April 16. For more information go to www.FRWA.org

House and garden portrait

I finished this house portrait on Friday for a woman who is giving it as a gift to her parents. Next, she will give them note cards of the painting for a Christmas gift. The house is in Vernon, Connecticut. Nice garden!

I just finished this painting after working on it all month. It took around 30 hours which is crazy and makes me want to learn how to paint loose. I hope it was worth it. I chose one of about 100 photos I took of the reservoir in October.
